Communist Leader A.B. Bardhan’s teaching is to be followed in life and not merely used as ‘Quotations’!.

During the last few weeks since the 12/06/2012 agreement was signed I had the 
opportunity to interact with more than 2000 employees through eleven meetings. I was 
emboldened by the understanding of my position by the employees on the 12/06/2012 
agreement. 
          It seems the initial euphoria about the 12/06/2012 agreement had evaporated by now. 
From the earlier claim of “land mark agreement” now some leaders  fine tuned their claims as “-
the best possible agreement in the present situation”. After signing 12/06/2012 agreement 
BSNLEU as usual   spread rumors that 78.2% IDA merger will be effected in the June month 
salary itself. But June has already gone. May be July will also  go the same way. Due to the 
false expectations created by the BSNLEU our employees expected a huge monetary benefit out 
of 78.2% IDA merger immediately. It is not wrong or unreasonable for the employees to expect 
financial benefits on account of any agreement reached with the management by unions. In the 
past NFTE could achieve this. But that golden era may not come again. During the period of 
BSNLEU no agreement was implemented either fully or in time. 
   I had expressed my reservations on 13/06/2012 itself. For this I was attacked /abused from all 
corners. For the last 30 years comrades Namboodri & Abhimanyu had never appreciated any 
agreement/achievement by NFTE. They criticized each and every agreement signed by the 
leaders of NFTE while they were inside the NFTE and   holding high positions in the union. On 
cadre restructuring, two promotions, Bonus, modernization, 20% promotion and many more 
agreements these friends raised hue & cry.  Their opposition and objections were mostly 
subjective and rarely objective. 
   Com. Namboodri who was the first signatory in the first wage  agreement in BSNL along with 
all other unions mounted heavy criticism  against NFTE for pay anomaly and abolition  of 5 
days week etc etc even though he was party to it. These friends also sabotaged each and every 
joint struggle organized under the leadership of NFTE in the past. The classic example was their 
betrayal of historic 3 days strike for govt pension in September-2000. But these friends now call 
me as an enemy of unity! Better they look their face in the mirror atleast once. 
  
  Unfortunately without   realizing their mistakes some of our friends quoting Communist leader 
A.B. Bardhan speeches to hide the shortcomings of BSNLEU. I will appreciate these friends if 
they really follow the path shown by com A.B.Bardhan. Com A.B. Bardhan speeches are not  
for mere quotations and citations alone. They had to be followed for the advancement of Indian 
working class through consistent and uncompromising struggles against the exploitation by the management/ government. 
  I am surprised at the new found love for A.B.Bardhan even while they support the 
retrenchment plan of the management in the garb of VRS and exhibiting calculations on the 
benefit of VRS. It is strange that some friends who are favoring the disinvestment in BSNL also 
quoting comrade A.B.Bardhan who is firmly opposed to both retrenchment and disinvestment 
in a public sector company like BSNL.
