Every Employees/ Executives of BSNL in the country are eagerly waiting to
get the merger of 78.2% IDA in to pay so that they get more pay and
pensionery benefit after retirement. As all of us know that the agreement was
reached on 12/06/2012 for the merger of 78.2% IDA on the eve of proposed
indefinite strike slated from 13/06/2012. Eventhough the agreement was
signed 7 months ago it is yet to be implemented by the management there by
merely 8000 Employees /Executives have already retired without having the
benefit of 78.2% IDA merger both in pay and pensionery benefits. This is most
saddening and immolating one for all the unions in BSNL.
Com C.K.Mathivanan, the Dy.GS of NFTE-BSNL raised certain doubts over
the implementation of said agreement due to the mistakes committed by the
unions particularly BSNLEU which is the recognized union in BSNL. However he
was abused and ridiculed to the extent possible by Com. Abhimanyu and others.
He went to the extent of describing Com. C.K.Mathivanan as “Doubting Thomas”.
He also promised that the implementation of the said agreement will be in
weeks if not in months. Everybody was hoping and believing that the agreement
on 78.2% IDA merger will be implemented sooner or later. The DOT whose
approval is must for implementation of this agreement playing tricks for several
months by asking numerous clarifications to delay the implementation further.
Now the GS of BSNLEU is writing on his website that strike action has tobe
there for getting the implementation of said agreement. Had he not postpone
the proposed 13/06/2012 indefinite strike and conducted the same every Union
/Association was ready to go on strike on this particular issue of 78.2% IDA
merger. We would have got the benefits of 78.2% IDA merger even in the
month of June-2012 itself. Having hailed the agreement as landmark and
historic one. Com. Abhimanyu now come to senses that without any serious
strike action the implementation of 78.2% IDA merger will only be on the paper
for ever. We welcome atleast now Com. Abhimanyu and his friends realized the
pitfalls in the so called historic agreement.
If BSNLEU and its GS not succumbed to the pressures of the management
during the 2nd wage revision negotiations we would have got the 78.2% IDA
merger from 01/01/2007 itself as in the case of other CPSU’s. Hence the whole
blame has to be put on the shoulders of the recognized union ie the BSNLEU
for the mesh created in 78.2% IDA merger and hundreds of crores of rupees
loss to the Employees/Executives ever since 01/01/2007.
