VRS in BSNL:
The management of BSNL formally approved a Voluntary Retirement scheme for all category of employees who have completed 55 years of age despite stiff opposition from NFTE-BSNL and other unions. A decision approving VRS as per the recommendation of BRPSE, the meeting of board of directors of BSNL has forwarded a proposal to the DOT for its approval. According to the information available the management has sought necessary funds from Govt of India to implement VRS in BSNL. Those who opt for VRS may get few increments only as per the proposals. Another proposal (Gujarat Pattern) for payment of 35 days salary for every completed year and 25 days pay for every remaining year of service is also recommended by the management to DOT.
As NFTE-BSNL has already decided to oppose any form of retrenchment we should mobilize the employees explaining the attempts of management/Govt to reduce the employees strength through VRS.
